FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS, the Premiers of Victoria and New South Wales have invited students to take up a challenge to improve their reading skills and to discover the joy and wonder that can be found in books.

The Premier’s Reading Challenge is for all students in Prep to Year 10. The aim of the Challenge is to promote a love of reading. It is not a competition, but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely.

The Reading Challenge booklists contain almost 5,000 titles and include fiction, non-fiction, plays, poetry, short stories and graphic/cartoon novels.

In 2007, the previously self-published Quizzical, was one of the new books listed on the 2007 June additions to the Victorian Premier’s

Reading Challenge Booklist for the Year 5 & 6 levels. Quizzical has also just been added to the 2008 New South Wales Premier’s Reading Challenge booklist.

The Five Mile Press will be re-publishing Quizzical in May 2008 and the sequel, Money Bags, in September 2008.
