General Information:

The books published by The Five Mile Press usually fall into the following categories:

• General non-fiction – Australiana, cookery, sport, craft, Australian lifestyle and gardening.

• Children’s books – Picture-story, activity, first concepts and board books, generally for ages 12 and under.

We are happy to consider all material submitted, but please note we do not normally publish juvenile or adult novels, poetry or junior fiction titles.

Guidelines for general non-fiction submissions:

For the initial assessment, we need only view a synopsis, contents page and sample chapter. Please ensure all material is clean, legible and neatly presented (typed and double-spaced). We will contact you should more material be required for assessment purposes.

Guidelines for children’s book submissions:

For the initial assessment, we need only view a synopsis of not more than one page in length. If you are submitting a series project, please include any ideas you may have for series development. We will contact you should more material be required for assessment purposes. We will inform you of your manuscript’s viability in due course – please do not ring us.

Important notes to remember:

• Please do not submit original material (in particular, illustrations), as we will not accept any responsibility in the unlikely event that your work is damaged during review. Please send photocopies only.

• Remember also to include a stamped, self-addressed envelope (large enough to contain your work!) to enable its safe return.

• We will inform you of your manuscript’s viability in due course – please do not ring us.
