A former advertising art director Robyn Johnson began working fulltime in publishing in 2004. Robyn is the author, illustrator and creator of the groudbreaking books The Enchanted Dolls’ House, The Enchanted Dolls’ House Wedding and The Enchanted Dolls' House Theatre which have been sold in Australia, the US, France, Spain, Greece, Italy, Hungary, South Africa and Taiwan. With their flaps, pop-ups and spectacular features, these books are aimed at young children – and their parents and grandparents. ‘There’s something about a dolls house that reaches a part of us that we treasure, little girls and their mothers in particular.’ Both of Robyn’s daughters involve themselves in her books. ‘I often ask them for their opinion and I’ll act on it just as often.’ Robyn prefers to work in the traditional mediums of fine pen and watercolour, ‘I prefer the ‘organic’ nature of these mediums and being able to create very fine detail.’
‘I always work on more than one book or idea at a time. So far, I have never run out of ideas, but my problem is the lack of time to produce all the work I dream up.’
